Right now, my greatest challenge is to be caring to my elderly father who is about 90 miles away, and to also balance that with a stressful work situation, caring for my three dogs (one has diabetes), and everything else that goes along with maintaining a house.
I'm not sure what I need at the moment, but I do know that there are other women out there with far worse problems. I guess keeping the fact that everything is relative within my own mind helps me deal with it all.
thank you for allowing me to post,
Inez.

Hi Inez, isn't it great to have a forum where we can just talk things through without being judged? As a woman, we always dig deep and somehow find the strength to carry on. Take care Sue x
I have several great challenges at present! On a personal level, to try to figure out how to care for my Mum who is thousands of miles away in Scotland, and yet maintain family life I have here in the US now. I also have an ongoing issue with my ex husband who wants to move away with our boys to New York ( they are 9 and 10) because he just came into a huge amount of money and feels that being near his family and being able to afford private school and piano lessons etc will benefit them. Meantime, I think they will be miserable without me around, and that has to be considered more than the money they will have there. On a business level, my challenge is to have my new business succeed. And to create a good balance between my business life and my personal.
Hey Barb
Sounds like major decision making time. It's hard to distance yourself in that situation to get perspective. I was just packing my son's bag to go to his dad's this weekend and I'm usually pretty free with my kids but I just had that thought, what if he died and I never got to see him again. Well, I burst into tears and prayed that God would not take him from me before I was ready to let him go, because he is my joy. So I can totally appreciate the pain of separation that you would feel if the boys went with their dad. I guess you've also got to think about how not having them with you would affect you. Would it give you the freedom to care for your mum, for example? Or to work on your business as you would like? It may be that the opportunity for them to be with their dad now is important to their development as well. Just throwing some ideas at you here, not making any judgements or giving advice at all. Just sometimes it pays to look at something for different angles. Either way, I don't envy you this important decision making time.

I resigned from my REAL job last week to pursue a new business.......am I crazy?.....no I've just got my groove back.....but let me tell you girls its going to be a challenge all the same, especially as my husband is self-employed too, so there is no steady income to speak of - NOODLES could be our staple diet for a while!!!! Anyone have any money saving tips to share?
Scroll my blog list in All Things Women. It's RSS fed on the main page. I did a blog on this...definitely worthy of a read! The blog is entitled "10 ways to have more money" and was posted in February 2008. Enjoy!
