A friend asked me to blog about Women Can International's Woman of Spirit Personal Challenge Quest and explain what it is all about, so being the obedient friend I am complying.
When I started Women Can International I felt very strongly to include a Personal Challenge Quest as part of the programs that I developed. Why? Because we all need an excuse to do something new or to tackle a project we have been procrastinating on. Having a definite start date, a mob of women who will also be starting their projects at the same time and a definite date by which is must be finished helps with the motivation end of things. So was birthed the Woman of Spirit Personal Challenge Quest.
The quest is open to any woman aged 18 years and over and the concept is very simple. You choose an activity that suits your lifestyle, complete an action plan and send that to info@womencaninternational.com. We then make the commitment to monitor your progress throughout November. We will phone or email you to see how you are going and help you to find the resources you may need for your project as we are able.
The goal? To have completed a project in the month of November.
Projects can be from one of seven categories:
Career
Community
Family
Health
Personal Development
Recreation
Worldview
You are not limited in any way. If you want to take on a mountain or a spring clean in your home, it is up to the individual. All entries in the challenge are eligible for a prize, as one prize will be awarded for the most inspiring quest in each category, with an overall winner of the Woman of Spirit Quest receiving a trophy.
To register for the event, simply complete the attached forms and return them to info@womencaninternational.com by end of October, 2008.
Now to my personal challenge...
As I am unable to do things on a small scale, I decided that my personal challenge for 2008 would be to start a new health and fitness regime. So I have put together the Commando Kick Butt Challenge with the purpose of inspiring other women to join me. We have two teams - 10 semi-fit people and 10 unfit/overweight people. I have pulled together a National Nutrition Educator, Helen Frost; an ex-army recruit trainer, Geoff Quinsee; a psychotherapist, Anne-Charlotte Patrilla and two mentors, myself and June Kelly. The program goes for six weeks and all entrants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and manual which I have created. I am now in the promotion phase, gathering my women together. We are starting early because we need the two extra weeks lead-in to do the nutrition training, mental toughness group work and the 7 day detox before we officially commence with Geoff on 1 November 2008.
You don't have to be in Perth to participate. If any woman wants to be part of the team and arrange her own physical trainer where she is, we will be recording the nutrition session and the psychotherapy session.
Feel free to email me, info@womencaninternational.com if you need more information.
I'm really excited about the prospect of dropping some kilos and getting fit again, as I am an ex-professional dancer and I want to be able to "shake my bootie" with my kids and not have the whole house rocking and rolling! :)
