What is the saying "The eyes are the windows to one's soul" (I hope I got that right). Regardless, I like to believe there is some truth to that.
Nowadays, we seem to have less and less physical contact with one another. With correspondense so readily available through our computers, emails, teleconferences ect... I miss the eye to eye contact I was raised on. I was taught, when speaking with someone you must make eye contact, out of respect to the to the one you are speaking with. I still believe that.
By now, you know I am in the Aesthetics Industry (skincare). As much as I am for improving what you got, I also am a strong advocate for enhancing what you were given and loving the person you are today. That being said, let me briefly explain the importance of taking care of the skin around the eyes.
Why use eye creams? You have no functioning oil glands directly under your eyes, so you want to keep the skin moisturized at all times. Why? So that when you do have facial expressions and the lines crease around your eyes, they are creasing on soft tissue. Lines (wrinkles) are formed after years of facial expressions and sun exposure that cause a breakdown of collagen (the supporting structure of the skin), which then creates the dreaded wrinkle.
Eye creams are very important. Eye creams provide a lipid or emollient substance to keep this delicate area soft. So eye cream is essentially a targeted moisturizer for the eyes.
Gels vs. Creams. Is there a difference between eye gels and creams? Very simply put, Yes! A gel is less emollient than a cream. A gel will contain more water and go on much thinner. Gels quickly dry on the surface of the skin and usually cause a tightening affect. Creams contain more oil than gels, therefore, creams are more emollient or softening.
Eye creams do not erase wrinkles or prevent then from appearing. But they can soften the look of the lines and help to decrease the appearance of wrinkles. Eyes creams are an important part of your healthy skincare regimen, but not magical.
I personally think the eyes can tell of someone's life story. So why not tell a beautiful story.
